Reset controll from operating two gates to one

We have a twin swing gate. One of our gate operators has failed and we have ordered a replacement. Mean while we need to keep using the gate and it wont work with one of the operators missing. Is any one familiar with how to change the settings to operate on one gate, and change it back later. I have the installation and users manual but its not exactly a comprehensive step by step guide. Any help would be appreciated.
