Hi

This is a new one for me.  I replaced one of the liftmaster motors a sub 300m with what I thought was a genuine one but is in fact a motor made by IDRO.  Its 12 month since install and yesterday gates were closing but  side on right as you look out was moving about 6 inches farther than left when in the closed position.  I opened the motor covering and found that the gate [attachment=438]stop had broken in half!!  Here are 2 pics.
What would cause it to break so soon? Wrongly fitted or ..

I bought this part from easygates in April 2021 but fitted with new motor April/may 2022.

is it possible to buy a spare?

Also can I place a piece of metal in front of motor arm and use that as a gate stop?

Motor was fitted by a proffessionsal.

Hi Bomitie,

it could be that your force is set too high on the motor causing damage to this part.
it also looks like the stop has corroded may be due to water ingress and that could be weakening the part further until it fails.
This isn't a part that we stock individually.
If you would like to email us I can contact LiftMaster to see if this part is something they have and we can sort this over email

Kind Regards
Matt
Hi Matt

Thanks for reply.  I have gone back to where I got that IDRO motor and they have sent a gate stop set i.e one for front and one for rear.  I want to change it myself but the bolt for the front gate stop has a hexagonal head and after trying 3 hardware shops today I cant find the correct type of key, it looks like an alun but a bit different. Here is a pic and would you know name of tool/key required and maybe I can get it online.

After further searching I think its a HEX SOCKET IS BEST is it 8mm or 8.8mm?

As for the rusty state I would say its been broken for quite a while and eventually dropped down.  Boxes are dry and I clean them out every 12 months.  Job was done last May so due this month""
