hi i have having some automated gates fitted (nice underground motors) and was wondering if there is a all in one unit that does GSM and app over the internet? which also does proximity opening using gps?

Hi Dave,

Regarding a GSM switch or 'dial to open' switch I would go for the 2T Technology 4G Switch as this has a user friendly app which sends the gates commands via preformed text messages. Alternatively you can call the sim card which would be placed inside the GSM switch and this will trigger the gate to open (you would have to purchase your own sim and have this as pay as you go or contract). If you just use this as a dial to open, you will barely use any credit on this sim and this will need to be topped up every few months depending on usage, could be much longer.

Unfortunately this does not have GPS proximity opening however, if your mobile is in your car or you can connect your mobile to the car you could say 'Hey Siri, call the gate' and this will open the gate without you having to pick your phone up, this is if you have an Apple phone of course. I'm not too sure what Android's Siri equivalent is.
