Safety Edges
#1
Hopefully I'm posting this in the right area.

We currently have some wireless resistive safety edges fitted to some gates  with one receiver with 2x channels. When they work they are fine but when it rains hard (or they are jet washed!) they will stop working. Originally the gates had edges that were glued when fitted but over time these deteriorated and it was decided to fit new. The new type did not require glueing but we are now getting more and more faults when it rains (or the gate are jet washed).

The clients would be ok with replacing the edges so long as we could provide some guarantee that the faults will not re-occur (at least in the medium term). Are there any recommended products that are better able to withstand the British weather that anyone might know of? Is resistive type the best for outdoor use?

Hi,

Thanks for the message,

typically this issue would stem from the chambers of the edge either holding water due to improper fitting (absence of drainage hole cut outs) or corrosion of the edge itself, my suggestion is to firstly assess that the relevant drainage holes have been removed.

Kind regards
Joe
