Recommended lock for EL100 interface
#1
I am looking for a simple lock to keep the two leaves of my entrance gates together when closed. Security isn't a concern, it is just to stop the gates moving and being pushed apart by the children.

I understand I will need the EL100 interface to deactivate the lock when I send an open command. What simple locks would people recommend?

The gates are wooden, 5 bar style, and the electrics are the Aria 400.

Thanks.

Hi,

I hope you are well. You could either opt for a magnetic lock or an electric lock. If you would like to opt for a magnetic lock, you will need the following items below.

Thank you Jamie.

My gates open inwards so it seems the electric lock wouldn't be suitable. What are the pros and cons of magnetic Vs electric locks?

Thanks.

If I purchase the EL100, do I still need the 41F-1Z-C2-24 24V DIN Rail Relay Module?

Hi,

Yes, you will need the EL100, a relay and a power supply to power your maglock / electric lock.

Hi,
The only difference i would state is that an electric lock can be disengaged by the lock itself, whilst the maglock has to be disengaged by being de-energized. This means you would be able to disengage an electric lock via the lock module itself, whilst a maglock can only have its state changed by a break in the circuit which would come from an accessory such as a push button, keypad or the panel itself coming from the EL100. In my opinion this is neither a pro or con, it is simply how the locks operate. For ease of install i would recommend a maglock, however it is down to personal preference.

I hope the above helps!

Kind regards
