Chamberlain Evolution not successfully opening door
#1
I have just purchased and fitted a Chamberlain ML700EV kit. This is for a single GRP retractable door. Previously it was fitted by the house builder with a Beidi Intelligent 800 device, which konked out after 5 years.

I was able to re-use the mounting points on the lintel and the top of the door, so the kit was easy to install.

I tightened the spring on the toothed belt until the socket would no longer grip the nut because of the exposed thread. This seems to be around "halfway" as per the video and the belt is under good tension.

The door raises to about 20 degrees and then stops, I assume because it is sensing difficulty/blockage.

If I support the door with my hand, it will power past this imaginary obstruction and on to the fully open position.

Advice appreciated.

Hi,

Usually a force reversal points to a few different possible problems.

1. When you put the door in the half way position does it drop or retract?
2. How difficult is it to move the door by hand?
3. Where are the springs on the garage door themselves?

Thanks Sav

1. I can check when home but in the halfway position I expect it to hold position
2. With no mechanism connected I can move the door easily by hand although it is stiffer at the points at which it sticks. I think this is due to the wheel in the left-hand runner. The runner was twisting at this point so I have reinforced the number of fixings into the wall but this has not cured the problem of the door stopping.
3. The springs are at the sides of the door mechanism.

I can share photos this evening which will help illustrate.
