Gates open as soon as they close
#1
Hi

Our estate has a set of gate closers with a nice MC824ah controller. It's been installed for almost 2 years now and had this same issue once before and seemingly resolved itself.
What happens is the gates open themselves to normal positions and after the programmed amount of time they close again as you would expect. However as soon and they close they automatically reopen. I can hear a relay in the controller triggering each time. Is it possible that it's fallen back in to a different models open- stop-close? Rather than set? The original installer is no longer in business and when they were, they weren't much help anyway. I am an installer of access control systems but obviously gates are different and wanted to see if there was a comon/quick fix to this fault.

TIA

hi
is this gate has flashing light installed ?
if yes tell me blinking sequence after fault , this light could give some informtion about system trouble.

for example 3 short blink / 1 s pause /3 short blink - that mean gate has encountered resistance .
Best Regards

Hi Craig,

On the MC824H theres certain LEDS which give a diagnostic. The STOP LED must always be lit. The BlueBus LED should pulse once per second, if the gates get to the close position and then re open you need to check if either the BlueBus LED is not flashing twice per second or more, which would mean the gates are interrupting the front safety beams or if the Open LED lights up in which the gates have been given a further command.

You may also need to redo a learn of limits if anything has recently moved on the gates as this could be a force reversal. The gate detects an unknown force then reverses.

Let me know how you get on.

Yes the bluebus led is flashing twice per second. The stop LED is permanently lit.
