BFT Rigel 5 err Phot - Jeanhay - 05-05-2025 I’m experiencing the same problem as a previous contributor. Following the advice to bridge terminal 35 &36 the error message went blank and I can open and close the gates with the remote. I have yet to do a continuity check on the wires ( maybe tomorrow) I did notice however that during the close operation (using the bridging above) the gats didn’t stop when I placed an obstruction in the way. I presume that’s because of the 35/36 short? Thanks for the clear advice that has got me started on a problem that has been awaiting action for too long! PS. How is alignment done if it’s necessary, the TX & RX are fixed to the gate pillars and haven’t been moved? Presumably the photocells you have are wired into 35/36, the way they will operate is under normal conditions they will hold a closed circuit across 35/36 and then when a obstacle gets in the way of the photocells the circuit breaks. By putting that link in you are essentially removing the photocells as part of the equation as you are simulating that everything is fine with the photocells. Many thanks Ben RE: BFT Rigel 5 err Phot - Jeanhay - 09-05-2025 Many thanks for your reply. I guessed that the link eliminated the photocells, so thanks for confirming it. I’ve slowly worked through the photocell cct- long wires over drive for continuity tests! I took the cover off the 4th unit (Tx) and found it powered , not from the control board but from a 3.6v lithium C cell! There was no mention of it in any of the documentation. It occurs to me that fitting it guarantees the gate company another call out and service charge! The new battery has arrived so fitting and testing is this afternoon’s job. Many thanks, Mike RE: BFT Rigel 5 err Phot - Jeanhay - 09-05-2025 Fitting new battery solved the problem! The fob switch LH button press once and both gates open for a time. (Enough to walk or drive out or in) They then close automatically. When gates are Open a second press of LH button closes them. However, I have another question. The system has another pair of Yellow and Green wires with Green connected to 36 and Yellow to 37. I suspect that these go to the gate switch in the house. This switch has 3 positions : 1, neutral and 2. It appears to take precedence over the fob button switches and in 1 and 3 positions the fob button doesn’t work at all. Only in middle, ( neutral) position does the fob become active. Oh for a proper circuit diagram! Any help appreciated. Thanks! Mike |
