BFT 250 BT = Thalia problem - Ed Scratcher - 08-09-2016

Hi all ...

Brand new to the forum and wondered if I might pose a question or 2.

My setup is ..

Thalia control panel connected to 2 x BFT ELI 250 BT (24v) motors with inward swinging gates. 2 x photo electric cell on gate posts and 2 x photo electric cell inside driveway.

All has been relatively ok with the gates since installation (approx 5 years ago) except that motor 2 gave up and had to be replaced about 1 year after install. Over the last few weeks, when the gates have been operated using my key fob, or the one on my wifes fob, the 2nd open gate was intermittently overrunning its limit and sitting up against the low kerb in our drive. When I subsequently used the 3rd fob that we have in the house, I was able to restore some order and the gates would work correctly.

I stood in the driveway for about half an hour going backwards and forwards using fob 3 then 1 or 3 then 2 and the same upset occurred until 3 was used to cycle them. After putting in new fob batteries, I eventually re-registered fob 1 and 2 see if that would help. Now, fob 1 and 2 were ok but not 3 ??.

Then, yesterday I operated the gates with fob 1 and they overran to the kerb but the safety did not release the gat back towards close, but instead stayed up against the kerb. I could not reset this situation with fob and was now concerned that motor 2 had given up. I have had the wiring checked which seems to be ok. I have taken motor 2 out of its tin to check and when I ran then gates it would only run clockwise.

So I have some questions ...

Whilst I understand that the fobs are pretty basic and only tell the panel to start and stop, is there a likely fault in the panel that might show itself in this way ?.

At the moment the system will operate and doesn't actually return a fault even though motor 2 only runs clockwise but will stop when I show the magnet to the limit switch. Is there a specific test I can run through the panel to check this motor ?.

I have turned the master power off to the panel whilst checking things and the last couple of time I have switched it back on the display on the panel shows PHOCL, but the pec's seem ok and are clicking when i walk through them. I have reprogrammed the panel and the message seems to have gone so maybe it had defaulted ?. Doea this panel have limited time memory backup if the mains to it is switched off ?

Many thanks in advance for any light that may be shed.

Ed.
