Major Problems with Q71B and MyHook Motors - roundyuk - 24-09-2013

Evening all,

We bought the above kit about a year ago but due to some issues and time limitations we had to stop the install at my parents house in Ireland. We resumed the install last week with varying degrees of success :-(

Firstly we installed the motors onto the gate posts (outward opening), completed all the wiring and then went onto programming.

Firstly we were having an issue when trying to do the first program on the gates, they would start by over closing onto the stop (as they should) but they would then stop and the DL programming light would remain on.

We then managed to get the gates into continuing their programming cycle (i think the stop was moving) but now they were opening and the motors were not stopping even after the cams had activated the micro switches – we had to turn the power off! We then tried again and this time tried activating what should be the open close cycle micro switch as the gates approached their fully open position, they stopped?! We then switched over which cam we had positioned for close/open cycles (reversed to the specified way in the manual).

Now we got to a position where the gates would over close, then open as per the instructions – but then they would not start to close again as they should in the programming cycle? The only way we can get the cycle to continue is the press and hold button P2 and then the gates would complete their close cycle. The gates now function, (open, pause, close) from the remote as expected but the whole process has been nothing like the instructions would suggest!!

Also, pressing the middle button on the remote would appear to open in "pedestrian mode" but we haven't even done this part of the programming!!

The gates seemed to be ok for a day and we went down to the gates and used the middle button (as it seemed to be working in pedestrian mode) the single gate leaf (left) opened partially, tried to press the button to close again and they both opened right up. Pressed the button again to see if they would close and they did but they stopped a few feet short of the gate stop! Its in such a mess!?

Does anyone have any ideas - it seems to me the route cause is that the programming cycle has never completed correctly..

Gatemotors.co.uk where we bought them from haven't been awfully helpful, their tech guy is away and they seem to be going back and forth to Proteco

Sorry for the long thread!

RE: Major Problems with Q71B and MyHook Motors - Blakey111 - 26-09-2013

Hi, I seems the logic on this boards programming does not sound correct. I would check the following things before writing the board off at this point.

1. The Geometry of the arms- Have they been fitted to the correct measurements in the hinge area? This could cause unnecessary obstacle detection and cause the gates to stop and reverse at certain points of the operation.
2. Once this has been checked/corrected, run through a complete limit position search. You should not encounter any stops during this search.
3. If you still find it is not remembering the positions, then this could be down to an error with the panel and you should contact gate motors for the warrantee terms.

The motors for these look to be just switched 230v, so we do have a compatible NICE panel which is very simple in the setting up. The NICE A60 panel is all programmed with potentiometer dials and run times.

If you need any more info on this, please contact us on 0845 054 5070. I have attached a manual on both your original board and an ideal replacement.

Kindest Regards,
Dave - Easygates Technical
