LYN300 closing problem - whitegatenorm - 23-12-2008

My kit has been working OK until today, now the gates wont close and the close edge (on gate post) photo cells' red LED glows constantly even if the beam is interrupted. The red LED on the control panel (on the close edge) is also permanently on and I can't seem to get it to turn off. Any clues as to whats wrong????

Furhter investigation reveals; with nothing connected to 'close photo' input, the red LED adjacent to that input stays lit even though switch 5 of S1 is set to normally open.
With switch 5 set to normally closed and a wire bridge in 'close photo' input then gates work OK but the close sensor is obviously not functioning. sounds like a main board failure to me but expert opinion would be appreciated.

This sounds like a Photocell problem if the lite goes out with the contacts bridged out.

Double check your connections to the photocell and make sure they are lined up then switch save switch off to see if the lite goes out if it does then switch save back to on.

The circuit needs to learn the saftey circuit by switching the save switch off for 20 second then back on

If this does not cure the problem then you would need new photocells

Thanks Mark, I've tried this and the problem persists, which seems to indicate the photocells. I'll ring you in the week as the whole kit is only about 3 months old

Thanks for the advice Mark, and also thanks for the extremly prompt service in replacing the faulty photocells, I've not fitted them yet but expecting a complete cure when I get round to it. Once again many thanks for your efficient service
