HI

I have some Proteco Advantage gates which have stopped working.
I think I have error code 9. but dont know what this means or how to fix it?
I also think I have identified where on the circuit board the rror may be , can I buy this part or the board somewhere instead of getting professional installers out to meand this ?Sad
Hi

The code "9." has been seen before where control boards, namely the Q36 and Q60A have failed components and this code has been seen before where there has been a short across terminals 1 to 12 (the code on screen has known to flash and/or turn red). As a possible solution, there is a quick test that can be performed before ruling the need for replacement control board:

Step 1 - Disconnect power to the control board. This will serve two purposes,
1) re-set the onboard resettable fuses
2) Safe precautionary before proceeding with next step

Step 2 - Remove all wiring from terminals but leave links (piece of wire) between terminals:
2 & 8 (emergency stop function)
3 & 9 (photocell 1)
4 & 9 (photocell 2)

This will give the control board literally a heart beat.

Step 3 - Engage power to the control board.

If you see "- -" (standby mode) then this indicates there was a short across an external piece of hardware (photocells, intercom connection, push button switches etc)

If you see "9." or any other odd character displayed, this indicates failed components present on control baord and as such a replacement will need to be obtained. The most current version of the Q series 230v is the Q60AR.

I hope this is of much guidance.

Kind Regards

Hi proteco UK,
My system (Q60A) stopped responding. Would the same procedure apply for a error code GO( Large O/0 not a small 'o') ?
Thx
Sean
HI Sean

No - "GO" is ever a brief message on the screen when the gate is activated either by key fob remote or by a switch (key switch, intercom, push button, loop detector). The "GO" is the control board saying "I'm being told to start".

If you are seeing a solid state "GO" and the gate does not respond, this is because the control board is receiving a constant "start" signal. This is caused by a closed circuit between terminals 1 & 8 (the manual start command input). It is like flicking on a light switch, it creates a closed circuit.

To resolve, first check that none of your key fobs are transmitting constantly (you would see a fixed LED light on the key fob). If this is fine, check any switching devices you have wired into terminals 1 & 8. For ease of back tracking, take out any connections you have in terminal 1 (this would clear the "GO", then re-introduce one at a time until you see "GO" stay on the screen,
