Hi,

Great forum, thanks in advance for any help.

Currently have an above ground, single arm installation for a 10ft wooden 5 bar gate.  It has an electric locking mechanism added.  It is a domestic gate, probably opened/closed on average 4 times per day.

This is now no longer working, and a replacement is needed, the reason for replacement rather than fixing is for the following reasons:
  • A very rural setting and subject to inclement weather!  When windy the gate will not fully open or sometimes not even open at all
  • The arm mechanism has been damaged on a number of times when the gate half opens and the wind catches it

The time has come for a new gate plus a new opening to be installed.  The gate size will be the same in length.
  • The above issues will need to be sorted so I am presuming a more powerful motor is required (the previous one was specifically for the size but the weather issue was not taken into account I think)
  • Is it wise to order a heavier gate?
  • A locking mechanism is required again
  • Standard key fob access required unless suggestions otherwise

We have another gate with the same mechanism on which does suffer the same issue but far less frequently, I am loathed to change it due to cost, so would require the new gate mechanism and the second gate to be opened on keyfobs with 2 buttons, as we currently have.

Apologies if the correct terminology hasn't been used!
