Full Version: Lyn300 lubrication

We recently moved into a property with a set of non-working LYN300 24 volt openers. I’ve diagnosed the fault to a failed power transformer and replaced it and the gates now work but they do squeak a bit with the noise coming from the openers themselves. I’ve removed the covers and all appears OK inside with plenty of grease on the drive gears and no signs of water ingress. I can’t see a way to lubricate the threaded rods that extend and retract the pistons. Any suggestions on how to go about doing this?

A spray lubricant, such as an application of WD40 should be able to solve this.

I'm surprised at the recommendation of WD40 - as a long term lubricant WD40 is pretty poor. It's more likely to rinse away whatever little lubricant is already there.

Is there a way to disassemble the actuator arm to get to the threaded rods?

If you do not wish to use WD40, you could use any generic motor lube grease. If you would like to send some images of your actuator to info@easygates.co.uk, i will be able to pinpoint the steps which need to be taken.

And in case it's useful to someone in the future, I replaced the dead transformer with one of these - https://cpc.farnell.com/multicomp/mcta16...EML007-005

I joined the grey & violet wires together and connected brown live and blue to neutral. To double the output current I connected the outputs in parallel - black with orange and red with yellow.
