Hi,

I have a question about the Genius Brain 17 control board. It was installed a number of years ago and I am currently installing a video entry system to control access.

I can use Pins 9 and 11 on J3 (low voltage I/O) to open and close the gate by simply bridging 9 and 11 and that works fine.

However, I want to use an output from a video entry system (its CDVI 2EASY Video Entry) to do this so I can control from inside.

The output from the relay is max 12vdc 450mA. Will that cause an issue with the Brain 17 if these pins receive 12V?

Thanks in advance

To operate your gates you are changing a voltage on a pin, either taking a normally low pin high, or vice versa. Check the voltage on Pins 9 & 11. If one is around 12V then you should be able to safely connect to your entry system. If not, then use that 12V output to drive the coil of another relay, and the relay contacts to operate your gate.
Good luck.
