We do already have a GSM unit on the gate, but due to the very poor signal in this area, it is unreliable.

The other problem we have is that the gate is out of sight from the house. Although it's only 200m in a straight line, it is roughly a 500m walk to get from the house to a point where you can see whether the gate is open or not. Therefore we need to have some indicator in the house of the gate's open/closed status as well as the ability to open or close it, otherwise we've no idea whether we are opening a closed gate, or closing an open one!

gate openers and smart garage door openers offer the perfect way to add security and convenience to your home or business.

Yes, we need an indicator so that we can know that the gate is open or not because without indicator it is hard to know it is on or not. I really liked your suggestion.

you can use small garage door openers. These small devices connect to your existing garage door opener, and they allow you to open or close your garage door from anywhere, or to check on the door's status.
