Hi folks
My faithful MotorLift garage door opener keeps blowing the plug fuse at the end of either an opening or closing manouver. It had a 3A and I tried a 5A and it still blew. When I disconnect the drive and open/close the door manually the door opens and closes easily and has no obvious reasons for an extra load on the motor. I would be in your debt if you no the reason or the solution.
Thanks
Hi,

I believe the issue would be the motor coming to the end of its life. As you said it only blows a fuse whilst under load. The pressure at the end of the cycle may be whats causing the motor to blow the fuse. This will be down to the motor becoming faulty.

Thanks for your reply. I've now put in a complete new unit and all is well. I did notice that the transformer primary bruned out after a new fuse was used. I think it was old and knacked as you suggested. Thanks Graham
