Hey all,

I'm in the middle of a homebrew project to build an Automatic Number Plate Recognition based gate opener for my house.

Figured I'd start a post here, in case the idea is liked by any of you.

The plan in short;
- Raspberry Pi. (the main controller, for gate state and activation)
- reed switch on gate. (to detect open/closed state)
- Q60AR Controller to interface with.

I've a few questions I'd hope someone here can answer for me and would gladly give all the info on my build to anyone (creating an instructable on it too).

Cheers!

Hey all,

My first question is around the Q60AR unit.

I need to "steal" power from it in order to power my Raspberry Pi at the gate.
I have a 50v rated DC/DC stepdown, which is configured to 5v for the raspberry pi.

The question I have is... where can I get some power from!
- I noticed Block 2B, pin 9 and 10 are +24v DC / -24V DC respectively.
- The problem is that using both of these, 48v is cutting it too close for my 50v rated stepdown.
- I need to try find a 0v negative on the board.

does anyone know off hand?
- I've checked the wiring diagrams, and can't find anything of note.

Appreciate your help!
Gilby.
