Hello

I have an Toona 5024 controlled by a NICE mc824H. Recently it seems the electrical lock on the ELS output short circuited and blew the 2.0 Amp fuse on the board.

After replacing the lock it functioned for two openings and then the new lock also short circuited. On checking the control unit it seems it had lost ist setting and set the ELS output as a courtesy light.

On measuring the output of the ELS (no load it showed 26 volts DC constant.

I reset the parameters back to ELS and now when testing again no load I get.

when gate open is pressed.

A brief reading of 26 V dc less then a second but also an AC reading of 24 to 26 volts for 3 ish seconds. this is no load.

Is this normal should there be a brief dc pulse and will an AC output show 26 with no load. the lock is rated at 8 to 12V ac ( as per manual specs)

Strikes me as a not ideal design to allow one output to generate such different voltages.

One more questions, is the circuit diagram available for the MC824H control unit?

if this was available I could trouble shoot at the circuit level ?
Hello Andy,

The MC824H ELS output should be 12VAC, if your measuring on DC this will give you different readings,

are you taking these readings with nothing connected?

Re programed the unit. looks like it lost settings and was driving the ELS as a courtesy light. SO of course burned the solenoid in the gate lock as over its duty cycle.

loaded the ELS output with 12 V auto bulbs and it seems:

Output voltage with a 10w load is 8 V DC

N0 AC output read on a digital multimeter.

S0 i assume limited voltage regulation on the output and the output is being driven as DC. All done at night in the cold and dark so did not confirm readings just got it all working and left as is.

If i takle covers off next trip will try to confirm output :-)
