Both remotes stopped working shortly after I changed the batteries. Even completing the reprogramming procedure doesn't work. The manual button inside the garage still works. What could cause this and how do I fix it? The opener is a 2004 model.

You either have the batteries in the remote wrong or your have a high level of radio interference in the local area blocking your signal , or the main radio reciever board has blown and need replacing. Repleacement boards can be found on our web pages :
