Problem with Proteco Sliding Gate Controller
#1
Hi there.
I have a PROTECO Sliding gate system with this controller:

This ~is the box/container of the system:

The controller started malfunctioning (strange codes on hexadecimal screen) and the system did not work.

I have been reading the forum and I have removed all cabling as stated here.

Here goes my testings description:
----------------------------------
#TEST 1
Setup: Power / Transformer / Motor / Links on [2-8][3-9][4-9]
Symptoms: I hear a "tick tick" sound in randomly (10 sec interval)
LCD Error: "F="

If I give opening command[1-8] , nothing happens and the lcd error and sympons continue the same. If I try the remote, the led on the controller blinks, nothing happens and error/symptoms continue .

----------------------------------
#TEST 2
Setup: Power / Transformer
LCD Error: "M0"

1. Connect motor.
1.1 LCD Error: "U0" *U = inverted U

2. Then, Connect [2-8] *stop button bypass
2.1 LCD Error: "M0"

3. Then, Connect [3-9] *bypass cells
3.1 LCD Error: "MC"
3.2 Symptoms: I hear a "tick tick" sound in randomly (10 sec interval)

4. Then, Connect [4-9] *bypass cells
4.1 LCD Error: "F=" *as on #test1
4.2 Symptoms: I hear a "tick tick" sound in randomly (10 sec interval)

Again, If I give opening command[1-8] , nothing happens and the lcd error and sympons continue the same. If I try the remote, the led on the controller blinks, nothing happens and error/symptoms continue .

*Note: Nothing else is connected. (no antena, no blinker, no sliding interruptor [5,6], no cell cabling)

Please let me know what I could do to fix this problem. (I can send the board to UK for repair)

Best regards,
John

HI

After reading your post, the control board has been identified as a Q36A (original). This control board was in circulation 5-10yrs and has now been discontinued. The "F=" is relating to the limit switch. This is the control board saying it cannot detect the limit switch (limit switch common). I note in your test one and two that there is mention of links - was cabling removed from terminals 5 & 6 & 8 for the limit switch? in addition you do not mention what strange codes you were seeing prior to the tests you completed so unable to confirm if there is a relation to the two.

if you require further assistance, please contact us at Gate Motors - support@gatemotors.co.uk

Hi there.
Thanks for the quick response.

Regarding your questions:

1. I can't remember the initial errors (sorry for that)
2. Yes, I've removed the cables on 5 & 6 to see if the error dissapears.

2.1. On [5] I connect a brown wire (1.5mm) that connects to the limit switch.
2.2 On [6] I connect a blacm wire (1.5mm) that also connects to the limit switch.

2.4 Is [8] related to limit switch also?
I thought [8] was for "manual command control" aka link 1-8, and bypassing stop button aka link 2-8.

I will connect both [5] and [6] to see what it shows.
PS: I'm using a PDF file with instructions on wiring the new Q60A*. Do you have the old one? Thanks

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, terminal 8 is used for the limit switch. (white cable) so in total you have brown, black and white.

Please would you contact us at Gate Motors - support@gatemotors.co.uk with your email address and we can send the Q36A manual to you.

Hi

Please accept apologies. The Q36S (sliding) is the control board featured, not Q36A.
