ICARO + LEO B CBB : Open gate at certain times? - tommysharp - 16-01-2014

Just wondering if it'd be possible to open the gate for certain times of the day say 9am to 5pm Mon-Fri? Didn't see anything in the manual but maybe someone has some smart ideas?

My next thought is to hook it up to a z-wave home automation system to do this and a few other things....

This is possible, you just need a relay timer which can be programmed for 7 days of the week. This needs to be wired into your control inputs on the control panel (the same as push buttons, keyswitches, keypads etc). Please see below for a link to one of our timers. If you need any more info, let me know!

The following is a "universal" solution that applies to most gate automations:

You can connect the output of a timer in series with the closing photocells (not applicable in case of BUS photocells). The output of the timer must be a dry contact which remains closed all day except for, say, 9am to 5pm when it stays open. When the contact is closed the control-board works as usual. When the contact is open the contol-board is tricked into believing that the closing photocells report the presence of an obstacle leading in the operator not closing. During this period, the first time (if at all) that someone commands opening of the gate, the gate will open and stay open. Obviously, if nobody opens the gate (ie during weekends, holidays or early in the morning if everybody arrives late) nothing happens and the gate stays as is (closed). For the same reason, you only need a simple daily programmable timer, though a timer with automatic daylight savings adjustment is preferable. It is advisable to also install a key-switch (not key-button) in parallel with the timer output so that you can bypass it (avoiding holding the gate open).
